ROHTAK: Revolting against the wishes of his parents, a groom married the girl with whom he was engaged before getting selected to Rajasthan Administrative Services (RAS) even as the groom's parents had broken off the engagement due to "ego clash" after his selection as RAS officer.
The groom, Arjun Singh, hailing from Kishangarh village in Alwar district of Rajasthan had been engaged to Poonam Rani, daughter of Sohan Lal in Mayan Nangal village of Rewari district.

Singh, 29, who was practicing as lawyer in the Jaipur High Court, had got engaged to Poonam, who is a JBT teacher in Haryana, about one year ago. He was preparing for RAS at that time and got selected when the result was declared two months ago.
Father of Poonam, Sohan Lal, stated that after Arjun's selection in RAS, his parents started behaving in a different way, which hurt them. "They even lodged a complaint of abduction of Arjun against us in Rajasthan. The parents finally announced to break off the engagement earlier this month", he said. Arjun Singh, when contacted by TOI, admitted that clash of egos had created a rift between the families which resulted in the controversy. "My parents broke off the engagement and decided against the marriage. But I went ahead with the marriage plan and went to Poonam's house on May 29 and brought her to my house after performing the wedding ceremony".
